Verbo

for voice and megaphone (2019)

para voz y megáfono (2019)

Verbo is a short but powerful piece for voice and megaphone. In this work, the megaphone is not used to amplify the voice for a larger audience; instead, it is pointed back at the speaker, creating an acoustic space where the performer becomes both the source and the receiver of sound. True to its name, Verbo is intrinsically tied to action—it aspires to be action itself. Rather than indicating, signifying, or representing an external act, the piece embodies a direct action: a verb that resists meaning, existing instead as pure noise. Because it requires a body to be voiced, Verbo is also a body. It is a speech without words, a sound-body that merges voice and presence into a singular, visceral experience.
